Conclusion:
In this lab, I have learnt about how to change my image background
by using Photoshop. As with everything in Photoshop, there are several different ways to
do achieve the same results. There are 8 steps that I follow to complete this task.
First, select the Foreground Object. So, I use the Quick Selection
Tool to remove the background. By using the Quick Selection Tool, it would
work just as effectively with the Pen Tool.
The second step is, Fine- Tune my selection. This step
is used to remove anything from the selection. Ideally your selection should
contain all solid objects, but you don’t need to obsess over selecting
individual strands of hair.
Thirdly, the step is select and mask. This step enables
I to refine the selection and convert it into a mask. In the Properties panel click the View Mode option to change how I
will see my selection. Overlay is
a good choice, as you can pick a colour that contrasts with your image.
The fourth step is refine the selection.
Next, I adjusted the Settings such as smooth, feather,
contrast and shift edge.
After that, remove colour fringing. Tick Decontaminate Colours to remove
any colour fringe left in my selection and in Output Settings, choose New Layer with Layer Mask, and click OK. Return to my main image, with my selection added as a new layer.
The seventh step is paste my new background. Paste in the image containing my new
background. Place it on a layer just below the layer containing my foreground
selection. Use the Hand tool
to position the layer wherever I want, resizing it if necessary using the Free Transform tool.
The final step is match the colours which is to fix
colours of the foreground to make sure they blend properly with the background.
Click OK and you’re done. I have saved the file as JPEG format in the desktop. So,
the original will not disappear.
